hanalei relaxation and refresh
Our stay at Sunset Hale was as we hoped. The property was lovely, well maintained, and nicely furnished. The kitchen was well equipped for our daily meal prep needs and enjoyment. This property is surrounded by plentiful and nicely chosen planting,including high grown shrubs and trees, making it feel enclosed to surroundings. The short street access to the beach was busy during our 10 day stay as the waves were calling to surfers. We loved our time in this property and shall return! The owner and Kauai Vacation Rentals made certain our needs were met and that we were comfortable. We loved the 3 little gekos who visited during our meals. Relaxed and refreshed after our 10 days, we will return asap! Mahalo Sunset Hale!

great stay in hanalei right by the beach
This is a very nice home right by the beach and within walking distance from the restaurants and shops in Hanalei. The layout is great for 3 couples - we were there with our two adult kids and their significant others. The description and pictures on the site are accurate. The house was spotless when we arrived, the beds are very comfortable, showers are good and the kitchen is well appointed. There’s a beach parking lot at the end of Hee road - this means you’re steps away from beach access, but also surfer traffic during the day and the occasional beach party sounds (which we experienced only on Saturday nights). This wouldn’t stop us from coming back or recommending this outstanding property to others!

your hanalei dream come true
My family and I had the best week staying at Sunset Hale on Kauai this December. The 60 second walk to the beach on Hanalei Bay is absolutely incredible. And you're also only a 15 minute walk to Hanalei Center. The house was perfect for our group of 6, plus an infant. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner. The foot wash and outdoor shower were great to have. The dining room only had four chairs, but we ate almost all of our meals out on the outside deck anyways.
Kauai Vacation Rentals was responsive and helpful. We left a cooler in the fridge with milk and snacks for our 1 year old while checking out. KVR was able to quickly connect with the cleaning staff and have them drop it out front for us before we left Hanalei.
If you want to stay in the center of Hanalei Bay, I don't know how you could do any better than Sunset Hale.

good times had by all!
First time visitors to Kauai. We couldn’t have picked a better location on the island. The bay was breathtaking and the mountains with waterfalls behind the house was amazing. The house was clean and had a wonderful layout. It was a very close walk to the beach and an easy drive to restaurants and shopping. We fell in love with the small village and laid back atmosphere. Would stay again!!!

incredible beach adjacent location
A wonderful home for our family of 6. The master bedroom gets a bit hot but the two kids bedrooms are perfectly cool.
The location right next to the beach is incredible and if you surf its a dream. This is one of the top breaks on the bay.
The only real issue with the house is that on Friday or Saturday night if it's not raining people will sometimes party on the beach and it can be loud. If this happens you can just call Hanaeli noise complaint and they send cops within 15 min...

an oasis in hanalei
Sunset Hale was a perfect oasis - close to the beach and a short walk to town but tucked away with privacy and greenery. It has all the amenities you need, including a lovely lanai and outdoor shower. The house is thoughtfully designed and stocked. It stays cool during the day, and has plenty of room for family/entertaining. The owners and housekeeper were gracious and welcoming.

perfect family vacation
It was a perfect stay in Hanalei with the property having everything we needed and walking to the beach and reatuarants of Hanalei. We were concerned about no AC as my husband is an asthma sufferer but it wasn’t an issue in the slightest. the numerous fans and trade winds made for perfect sleeping conditions. The owners left a little gift basket with recommendations and gift cards to local shops and when using a gift card at Pinks creamery, the person working there saw the gift card and said oh these owners are the best. We had that feeling but it was so nice to know how much they support local business on the beautiful island of kauai. Amazing recommendations. There was actually an island wide power outage the night before we checked out and we were quickly and easily able to find candles and matches. It really is the first time we have stayed anywhere where we felt like everything was thought of and left out for the renters and not stashed away in an owners closet. Wouldn’t hesitate to return. Most beautiful section of Hanalei beach. Loved loved. Thank you!

We choose to use ceiling fans and open windows to cool the house rather than air conditioning because with the high electric rates on Kauai, I would have to raise my rental rate significantly and I would rather you use the same money to go to the interesting places to eat in Hanalei. fabulous home away from home
We loved staying at Sunset Hale. It was clean upon arrival, well appointed in all rooms, VERY convenient to the beach and the town of Hanalei, ample storage and nice beach amenities were provided. The rooms were all very comfortable with really nice screened windows and doors. Keyless entry made it easy for our whole family to come and go as we pleased. The kitchen was well equipped. Our house cleaner works very hard to keep the house clean from the sand from Hanalei Bay, which is only 100 steps from the house and was rated the 3rd best beach in the state of Hawaii by the Hawaii Magazine. After enjoying the water and sand, we hope that you tried all of the interesting small food sources, like Pink’s Ice Cream and Wishing Well Shave Ice, in Hanalei Town. We added the electronic door lock so you could keep the house secure and not worry about losing a key in the sand on the bay. The house will be waiting for your family in 2025.

perfect location
This lovely home was the perfect location for our family vacation. Just one house from the beach, it made getting to the beach easy and very doable for just a couple of hours at a time. The home cooled down at night, but may be too warm for some people. We would stay here again.

fabulous & convenient to north shore activities
This house is perfect for our needs. Beautiful, clean, short walk to the beach, 10-15 min walk into Hanalei for shopping & restaurants, close to shuttle for Haena State Park (Ke'e Beach & Kalalau Trail). The property management & owners provided welcome packets with treats, complimentary shopping/lunch bags & coupons for local Hanalei businesses. Property management is extremely responsive to all questions. Highly recommend, especially if you are looking for a relaxing stay primarily in the North Shore area. We will be back!

Great house, great location, clean and well maintained. Everyone had a fun time, especially with Hanalei Bay just a few steps away. The only slight negative is that the street is very busy with traffic going to and from the beach all day. Of course, there are also the roosters crowing at all hours, but that's Kauai.

No ocean view really- the trees and bushes have grown too high for the view. Busy road with surfers morning and evening but no problem. Loved our stay. Love Hanalei.

This is the third time we've vacationed at this beautiful rental property. The house is well maintained and fully stocked with cooking equipment and beach gear. When we arrived, we were greeted with a "welcome back" sign and fresh leis.The property management company was extremely responsive when we discovered that the modem was not functioning and needed to be replaced. We were back on line shortly after they came out and replaced the modem.

First time staying on the North Shore in the beautiful town of Hanalei. Renting and communicating with the management company for Sunset Hale was super easy. All of the instructions for check-in, Check-out, and everything in between was well provided. The home, which was in immaculate condition, was a mere 50 steps to the beach. beautiful home steps to beach
We stayed in this beautiful home for 11 days the end of May. It's steps to the beach and a seven minute walk to the adorable town of Hanalei. The local farmers market is every Saturday and it's even closer to the house. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised with gift cards to local places and an extra cleaning day during our stay. The home was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We had everything we needed for cooking and going to the beach. It is a busy rd next to the house but quiet after sunset and doesn't get busy until 10-11 am. The house is equipped with plenty of fans and with the windows open the lack of air conditioning was not a problem. I even got cold some nights with the windows open from the ocean breeze or if it rained. We can't wait to go back and would highly recommend this home if you vacation in Hanalei Bay.

beautiful, clean, well equipped house next to the beach
We had a wonderful 6 days in Hanalei Bay, staying in Sunset Hale. The house was convenient to both the beach and the town. It is only one house from the beach, and we spent time on the beach and in the water multiple times a day. My 11 and 13 year old boys surfed daily with my husband and always had an area to surf where the waves were just the right size for them.
The house was well maintained and well equipped. There were spices already there which enhanced our meals, and we had plenty of dishes, toilet paper, soap, etc. We used the washer and dryer which are located in a locked area under the house. They provided fragrance free detergent. We always had everything we needed and more.
The owners of this unit seemed especially generous and left us gift certificates for various local places like the ice cream store. We used many of the gift certificates, and enjoyed getting to walk into town for great food. Also, the property management company was excellent in their communication, and also left us treats and a small cooler bag and grocery bag that we also used daily. The house was extremely clean, and everything was in excellent working order. Thank you again!

hanalei hideaway
We could not have more pleased with Sunset Hale. It is very secluded and it’s only steps to the beautiful beach. The house is very large and sleeps 6 people easily. It is very spacious, clean and comfortable. Our family is very blesses to have spent 10 wonderful days there. Mahalo to the staff at Kauai Vacation Rentals. The couple of times that I contacted them, they couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. The next time we visit Kauai we’ll definitely book our stay with them.

great house in hanalei
We spent 2 weeks at Sunset Hale. It is a well designed, well furnished house close to the PineTrees beach park on Hanalei Bay. We have been coming to Hanalei and renting houses for over 20 years. Aside from the time we splurged and rented a beachfront house, this is the nicest we have been in. We would without question rent it again.

My husband, daughters and I all had a wonderful stay. The house was clean, comfy beds. It felt like you were in the middle of the jungle. It was steps to the beach and we walked to town. It was such a convenient location. We loved the outdoor shower. The owners welcome gift was a nice touch.

The house was amazing. Only steps from the beach and a short walk to shops and dining. We would highly recommend to anyone.

a great hanalei beach house
House is clean and well maintained-60 steps from Hanalei beach.Perfect place for a beach houseOwner and manager are very attentive and service oriented.Highly recommended for beach activities-the water and sand are the best- check the mountains from the beachEveryone visits this beach at sunset.The Town is a 5 minute walk. We have rented the house for the last 6 years and look forward to visiting next summer

Our house cleaner does an amazing job cleaning the house and making sure all of the house supplies are in-place before you arrive. Because the house is only 100 steps from Hanalei Bay, it is quick to come and go between the house and your beach activities. perfect staycation!
Hard to beat the location! The home was lovely... cute, spacious, clean, updated, well-equipped. We felt very at home. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were not cluttered or too bare. We utilized the outside foot washing station and shower after the beach.

great stay in paradise
Loved this house and our stay here...We were so comfortable and appreciative of the great beds, screened windows, fans everywhere, outdoor shower, etc. If people are looking for a super tranquil experience it is good to know that the house is on a small road that many people use to get to the beach. It did not bother us as it was worth it to be so close to the beach and in such a great house, but I think some people might prefer to be further from the beach and in more solitude. Personally we'd be back in a heartbeat.
