Hurricane Nolo:

Hurricane Nolo is passing south of Kauaʻi and moving away from the islands. Kauaʻi has avoided a direct impact, and the island remains open and welcoming visitors!
 
Guests may notice some increased surf, wind, or rain as the storm passes. Please use caution near the ocean and follow any posted advisories.

🌺 Hurricane Lowell Update

Now that Hurricane Nolo has safely passed south of Kauaʻi, Hurricane Lowell recovery efforts continue throughout the island.
 
We’re happy to share that power has been restored to most of the North Shore, and crews and our local community continue working hard to restore roads, businesses, and services affected by the storm.
 
Kauaʻi is making great progress, and we’re grateful for the incredible teamwork and Aloha shown throughout our island community. 🌺
 

Kauaʻi Is Open & Welcoming Visitors

Kauaʻi is open and welcoming visitors!

Hurricane Lowell caused significant damage across the island, but recovery is well underway. Most of Kauaʻi is open, and more restaurants, shops, activities, parks, and experiences are reopening every day.

Visitors can enjoy much of the island as normal, while keeping in mind that some communities are still recovering. You may encounter repair crews, road work, downed trees, damaged landscaping, temporary closures, or occasional travel delays.

Your patience and aloha help our community recover.

 

🌴 KAUAI IS OPEN

What to Expect During Your Stay

Recovery work is happening throughout the island. Guests may encounter:

🚧 Road & Utility Repairs
Roadways, electrical lines, and other infrastructure are being repaired. Please slow down, allow extra travel time, and give crews plenty of space.

🌳 Storm Damage
Downed trees, damaged landscaping, and other visible storm damage remain in some areas as cleanup continues.

⚡ Temporary Power Interruptions
Power has been restored to most of the island, but crews continue working in areas affected by the storm and temporary interruptions may occur.

🏝️ Park & Area Closures
Some parks, trails, beaches, and communities remain closed while they recover. Please respect all posted closures and restrictions.

Haena & Wainiha Recovery Update

What to Expect During Your Stay

Following Hurricane Lowell, the communities of Haena and Wainiha are continuing their recovery. We are grateful that power and water service have been restored, and the area is beginning to welcome guests. However, recovery and repair work is still ongoing.

During Your Visit, Please Expect:

  • Roadwork and repairs in portions of the area, which may cause delays or changing traffic patterns.
  • Ongoing electrical repairs and utility work, even though power has been restored.
  • Landscaping and property repairs throughout the communities, including areas with storm damage.
  • Ongoing work crews and equipment as residents, businesses, and government agencies continue repairs.
  • Some state parks, facilities, and attractions may remain closed or have limited access while repairs continue.
  • Conditions may look different than they did before Hurricane Lowell, and some areas may still show visible signs of storm damage.

🌺 Come with Aloha

Haena and Wainiha are special places with strong, close-knit communities. As you visit, we ask that you come with Aloha—be patient, respectful, and mindful of the people who live here and the work being done to restore the area.

Please drive carefully, follow posted signs and directions, give repair crews and equipment plenty of space, and respect all closures and restricted areas.

EAST KAUAI

🌺 OPEN & READY FOR VISITORS

East Kauaʻi is open and welcoming visitors.

As throughout the island, you may encounter cleanup and repair work. Please use caution and allow extra time when traveling through active work areas.

 

SOUTH KAUAI

🌊 MOST AREAS ARE OPEN

South Kauaʻi's coastal areas experienced significant storm-surge and wave damage.

Most of the South Shore has reopened, while crews continue repairing roads, electrical lines, coastal areas, and other infrastructure.

Lawaʻi Beach Road

There were significant impacts from the storm, including storm-surge damage, flooding, and damage to portions of roadways and properties.

Prince Kūhiō Condos: Most of the complex is open, although remediation and repairs are continuing.

The road into Lawaʻi/Prince Kūhiō is currently limited to residential and repair traffic. Guests of Prince Kuhio have access to the road.

If you are staying at Prince Kūhiō:

  • Drive slowly and use caution.
  • Expect to see recovery and repair crews.
  • Follow posted signs and directions.
  • Give workers and equipment plenty of space. 

Water Safety: Please check for current brown-water advisories and use caution before entering ocean waters in areas affected by the storm. 

WEST KAUAI

🌺 RECOVERY CONTINUES

West Kauaʻi also experienced hurricane damage.

⚠️ Kōkeʻe is currently closed due to storm damage and hazardous conditions from the hurricane's strong winds.

Please respect all closures while crews continue recovery work.

 

💚 VISIT KAUAʻI WITH ALOHA

Kauaʻi is open.

One of the best ways to support our island during recovery is to visit respectfully and support the local businesses that are open.

Enjoy our restaurants. Shop locally. Explore the activities and experiences that are available. Be patient when you encounter road work or recovery crews.

And most importantly, respect areas that remain closed so residents and recovery workers can safely do their jobs.

Every visit helps support our local community as Kauaʻi continues to recover.
