great location
1. Would definitely stay here again for the location if I could know in advance it wasn't going to be windy (for the sake of snorkeling). If windy, there is nothing else to do in walking distance, so make sure you have a rental car. Expected a little bit more for the price. Lots of cobwebs in/around the bathroom light fixtures and other non-dresser surfaces.
2. The master does NOT have an indoor shower, and the outdoor shower has a large window looking into the secondary bedroom, so other house guests can see you naked/bathing if you don't correct for this by walking into their bedroom. This was an unpleasant surprise.
3. Also, there are really old men (windsurfers) that came to use up the front yard for their equipment and lounging, which was very awkward and strange. They were even giving us unsolicited advice about how we were swimming, which felt instrusive. I wouldn't have tolerated them if I had small kids. I suggest the owners put up some sort of signage or rope fencing (like the other neighbors) that prevents people from parking and lounging in the yard.

an excellent oceanfront stay
It was the best oceanfront stay we had as a family in a long time. I never thought we would do that in Hawaii, given the expensive nature of the islands. Don't get me wrong, it is still expensive, but it was borderline affordable. And it was worth the money in Kauai I guess. The house is simple, but the kitchen is well equipped with stainless steel utensils.
Few cons are
1. No window shades, it was very bright and we couldn't get the kids to bed early
2. No toys for kids (it would cost $10 I guess), it is a remote place, you need to drive 15 mins for nearest town, so they could have got some play stuff.
3. A guy who cuts grass came even before we checked out, gave us a loud last 2 hours before our checkout. They could have timed it better, I saw they did that perfectly in Nearby property, only after the guests checked out.
Overall, good oceanfront house, because you are gonna be in the beach most of the time, and when you come back you can cook and eat very well.

unbeatable location on the best stretch of anini beach
We've stayed at Punahele Hale a few times now and the property is in great shape and the view is second to none. We were very pleased with how well the kitchen was equipped. Our favorite place to stay on Kaua'i.

sit back and relax
We love this little house with its' big lanai that faces the lagoon and the green lawn. We spend most of our time either in the lagoon snorkeling and swimming or on the lanai reading talking and watching the day go by. North Shore is not for everybody. Remember, it rains 2 or 3 times everyday and a lot at night. But its pretty good if you like to read, nap and listen to the rain fall.

great time in paradise
This home is perfect for two couples. Fabulous Sunsets from the front porch and sunrise from the beach across the road. Saw turtles in the water directly in front of the home. Loved the outdoor showers and beach access. House had 4 beach chairs 2 snorkeling sets and umbrellas.. Not a new home and could probably use some upgrades. We loved it and would hope to come back soon.

anini house
We have stayed in this house a few times before. Some of the furniture is very old and needs to be replaced. One of the dressers is falling apart and the sofa looks old and worn.
We did have more issues with bugs then in the past. We found some very large cockroaches inside the house which is creepy. When we turned the ceiling fan in the guest bedroom it rained bugs down onto the bed. Yuck!
Even with that being said, we love Anini Beach and will return.

best location on anini beach!
Punahele Hale has an unobstructed view of the water, a wonderful covered lanai and just steps from the beach. The protected reef offers great swimming and snorkeling opportunities. Conveniently located near Princeville and Hanalei, shopping and restaurants are close by. The house is well equipped and comfortable.

a charming home with a spectacular view
This was our first stay at Punahele Hale; however, we've stayed at other homes on Anini Beach. The home was very well-kept with all the essentials that you might need. We enjoyed the lanai with the expansive views from dawn to dusk! The 30 second walk to the beach made it easy to enjoy. After many year staying on Kauai, we really didn't choose to explore the island and we truly appreciated hanging out at the hale. KVR got us an early check-in, which we were extremely grateful for and they are always lovely to work with!

cool & private getaway
This home flows the views and breezes though the entire lanai,& living room. Our mornings Rooster rise, to the picturesque Sunsets revolve around these incredible surrounds.
The home is fully equipped for all your cooking.
The 2 outdoor showers was everybody's favorite amenity. The quiet beach at the front door is the hidden gem.We have returned to this beach over ten years, with more to come. Snorkeling is outstanding, many sea turtles,endless colorful fish.
The KVR team really exceeded in all the planning services.

beautiful and quiet getaway
We love Anini Beach for the reason that it's so quiet and the waves are calm for our children. We had the best time in this quiet abode for the week. The views are stunning and it brings so much peace just soaking it all in. The property was very clean and also secure. One thing to note is that it's not far from the public campground and we did have a few homeless people parking not far from us as well as some people camping out. It was absolutely no bother and never had any issues but wanted to share that experience as well. We would definitely stay again!

anini paradise
It was an amazing location and a very “local” feel. My family enjoyed the incredible sunrise and spectacular sunsets every day. We met the local wind surfers and they shared their experiences at Anini beach. I grew up in Kailua, Oahu and this house took me back to the days of my youth.

amazing beach
The house sits just steps from the beach. The view from the lanai of the ocean is amazing. We loved watching beautiful sunsets every night and even got to see the “green flash “. The house itself is well equipped. It does need some updates and repair. All in all it is a beautiful place and somewhere I will definitely return to.

Our booking in Princeville had a problem, so Phoebe from KVR kindly moved us to Punahele Hale, a wonderful location for relaxing. An expansive ocean view, a lovely deck to hang out on and watch waves, and close to Princeville, Hanalei, and Kilauea.

love the sunset
This place was great we come to Anini to snorkel thru the years and wanted to stay close to the beach we love. It was awesome the outdoor shower was my favorite thing after coming back to get cleaned up. The house furniture was very comfortable unlike a lot of wicker Seats. Lots of room for 4 people. We hope to come back and stay here again I am sure it will not be hard to get another couple to join us

i hate to share, but....
This is our 3rd time renting Punahele Hale and I plan to return. This years weather was rainier than I prefer but overall a great vacation. House comes complete with just about everything you could need for a relaxing beach vacation. The staff at KVR are super responsive and very easy to deal with. Already looking forward to our return trip!!

The owner and staff make visiting Kauai a seemless experience. Efficient,helpful , friendly and knowledgeable. This was our 12th visit to Kauai and our 4th stay at Punahele Hale, the location is perfect, just steps away from one of the few reef protected beaches in the islands. The house has everything we need for a great stay, especially the large lanai. We will be back.

The view from the lanai (front porch) and from the living room is breathtaking! You can hear the ocean at night from your room as you go to sleep. The beach is steps away. Anini is a beautiful beach on the island of Kauai and you will not be disappointed in your stay here. The house has everything you need and you will spend most of the time outside. We loved the outside shower and our daughter loved the soaking tub! We loved every minute of our stay here. We highly recommend Punahele Hale and look forward to staying again.

house near the beach
This house is a very comfortable place to stay and in a great location. The house comes well equipped with many amenities, such as beach chairs and an outdoor barbecue. Its a short drive to get to find good restaurants and shops to get supplies.
