a very nice house and my group of 6 was very happy. What I will say here is only suggestions from an experienced traveler.
1. We thought the wifi needed to be stronger.
2. we arrived in the very dark and had a hard time finding the address. It doesn't show in the dark
3. The A/C in bedrooms only doesn't seem to measure up to the price we paid for the summer months.The VRBO ad listed A/C as an amenity and in fine print below mentioned in bedrooms only. I didn't read the whole AD. My bad.
4. Use of the dumb waiter would have been a really helpful!

perfect location - felt like staying at a friend's home
We loved our stay at Pua Melia. The location couldn't be better. The lanai was the best part - we loved drinking our coffee and watching the rainbows and sunsets. It felt like staying at a friend's home, not just a rental. We can't wait to come back someday.
p.s. we really appreciated being left with some small essentials - trash bags, dishwasher pods, flashlights, tape... It is SO NICE to have little extras that may come in handy.
A few points for improvement that would take the rental from great to excellent. 1) pillows - the bed pillows need some improvement, the current pillows are lumpy and flat. New ones would greatly improve sleep quality. 2) the western window shade in the queen room is broken. That view is incredible and deserves to be enjoyed! Otherwise - like, I said above, we loved the property.

great location not the cleanest
We stay in Hanalei annually, this location is fantastic. The house is functional and the lanai is great! The carp ets were not the cleanest and there was a terrible bug infestation in both bathrooms, they were little tiny insects like gnats, I’ve never seen those before in Hanalei.

great hanalei house!
House was so beautiful, very clean. Walking distance to the beach and Hanalei town. The only downfall, which is no one’s fault, is the porch and living room get really hot during the afternoo and there is no AC in the living room (only the bedrooms which was definitely needed).

great place, beautiful beach
House is great, location is excellent. Very big for a 3 bedroom. Lots of space.
Stove needs some maintenance. Some burns take many tries to lit, but overall I recommend it and would stay there again.

great week in hanalei with family.
Great house. Great location. My daughter timed it and says it is a 3 minute walk to the beach and 7 minutes to Hanalei town. Great views of mountains and beach.
This was our 3rd trip to Hanalei and our favorite house so far. Our favorite activity was walking to the beach in the morning to surf, walking to town in the afternoon to eat and look at the shops, then back to the beach for the afternoon and sunset, followed by dinner at the house.
Everything in the house worked well. We did not need the air conditioners. Just opened the windows for ocean breezes. Garage is stocked with chairs for the beach and a couple umbrellas and coolers. Plenty of towels and the kitchen was set up with everything from rice cooker, to toaster oven. The only thing I wish they had is an outdoor shower, but not a big deal because there are showers at the beach and a hose at the front of the house.

wonderful location
It's a beautiful,spacious home in an amazing location on Weke Road, steps from the beach. The property managers were friendly, quick and responsive when we needed help. There were issues with bugs, cockroaches, which they sprayed on our second day. Also an ant infestation in the kitchen, which we did not call about. We did not call about. It would have been better if they had treated before our arrival.

great house in prime location
We so enjoyed our time in this clean and comfortable home. It was well stocked with everything we needed. The lanai with its small view of the ocean was especially great. You can’t beat the location. Highly recommend this rental!

great stay in hanalei
We really enjoyed our stay at Pua Melia. The house is in a great location with beautiful views from every bedroom and the front porch. This was an ideal set up for our group of six. The kitchen was very well equipped, one of the best kitchens in any rental I’ve ever stayed in. The downstairs bathroom was nice to have as an extra. There were plenty of beach chairs, umbrellas etc. We highly recommend this house and would definitely stay here again.

beautiful home on hanalei bay
We stayed here for the week of our wedding which was on Hanalei Bay and couldn’t be more pleased with the home. It was so beautiful and spacious. All of the rooms were a nice size and two of them had ocean views. Even the one that didn’t was beautiful. We would definitely stay here again. The ladies at the office were also so nice and accommodating and if we had any questions, they were quick to get us answers.

fabulous house!
This house is fantastic! I hope to return again many times. The house is comfortable, well-appointed, and a wonderful location. The management is also wonderful--they went way out of their way before we arrived to ensure a successful trip and they responded very quickly to make a repair when that was needed during our stay. My family and I will definitely be back.

great house for 2 families
Two couples with their children stayed in the house. It has all the amenities and the decor is quite beautiful. The AC was a real plus since the weather was quite humid. The beds are super comfortable and the views from the expansive lanai are great. We loved our stay.

happiness in hanalei
We had a wonderful stay in Hanalei. Pua Melia is within walking distance of the beach, restaurants, yoga, and more. There were a cooler and chairs for the beach. It was perfect for our family of 3 adult couples. I would recommend this property to my friends and family.

location, location
I supposed the location could be beat, but not by much. 1/2 block to beach access, on the frontage road for the beach with only 1 row of houses between the house and the beach. Great view from deck that does get a bit warm in afternoon. 5-10 minute walk to the main Hanalei intersection. All living space on second floor. 3 spacious bedrooms. Beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and cart. There is a companion house directly behind it on the same lot - we rented that for the rest of the family. A/C in the bedrooms, though the breeze was usually enough to cool it off.

family stay in paradise
Pua Melia is the perfect home for a family getaway in Hanalei. The lanai alone is the best place to watch the sunset, have dinner, people watch, or just watch and listen to the rain. The location is a short walk to the beach or into town. AC in bedrooms is a definite plus in this home. Perfection in paradise.

pua melia - ideal location!
The Pua Melia house is the ideal location for a 5-star Hanalei Bay experience. It was a very short walk to the beach and a brief walk into town from this near-beachfront home. The garage was well stocked with chairs and boogie boards and beach towels. Watching the waves crash while dining on the deck was a highlight.

beautiful island stay
We love staying in Hanalei and enjoyed our time at Pua Melia, a two story home across from the Bay. Close (a block or two) to beach access, and a short walk from the Hanalei pier and town, this location was wonderful for our family. We love a beachfront rental, but this was very close and ended up working out great. One thing we noticed was there is a fair amount of traffic noise early in the morning which with a toddler sleeping was of concern. But the bedrooms have AC, so we closed bedroom windows which helped.

our favorite place in the world
We love Pua Melia in Hanalei! This house is perfect for our family of four. We enjoyed the deck and the views. The location could not be any better. We bike or walk right over to the beach or the pier. We can walk to town to eat or shop. The house is well stocked with everything you might need. Each room has its own air conditioning units as well.

a very special home
We loved our stay at Pua Melia. A few minutes walk to the beach, a few more to the sweet town of Hanalei, what's not to love?! Pua Melia is beautifully-decorated and well-appointed, not just your run-of-the-mill a rental unit. The owners have lovingly looked after the home and it was a joy to stay there. Kaua'i Vacation Rentals are always responsive and helpful and we would highly recommend them.

beautiful pua melia
This was about the 10th home we have rented over the many years of visiting Hanalei. It is an outstanding rental. The home was clean in excellent shape. It is one of the best. Sounds of the ocean at night, walk to the beach at daylight. Little noisy with traffic- but that's minor compared to the at home feeling we had. The a/c works great in bedrooms and that was a haven for those extra hot days. WE used the screen on the patio to help deflect hot afternoon sun. The home has the ambience of a Hawaiian home! We would love to return to this spot!!! The town is a couple blocks away. It has beautiful landscape! Plus the view of the ocean, and the waterfalls on the backdrop of the mountains. We saw up to 6 waterfalls on one afternoon! Wow absolutely gorgeous! The beds were terrific! There wasn't anything we didn't like about the home or location! Thanks to the owners what a lovely home you shared with our little family!. Thank you to Kauai Vacation Rentals. They went above and beyond and even checked in on us a couple days in making sure everything was great!

excellent home and excellent service
My wife, two-year-old daughter, and I had a splendid extended stay (40 days) at Pua Melia. The house is laid out very well, with all the necessary amenities. There is traffic on Weke Road but the house is well built and you can basically eliminate noise by closing the doors and windows if necessary. AC in all three bedrooms is a big plus are are the many fans (indoor and on the lanai).
Lucy and Co. at Kauai Vacation Rentals are very professional and fabulous to work with. They run a top-notch operation and I recommend them without hesitation for a stay on Kauai.
