Description

A rare combination of amenities exists at Lei Aloha, a hidden retreat in Princeville, on the north shore of Kauai. Gates lead into a private courtyard, completely enclosed by a stucco wall and tropical plants, including plumeria, heliconia, gardenia, and torch ginger. In the center of the courtyard is a 16' x 40' swimming pool, a great way to cool off. Upon entering this custom-built home, guests are greeted by a magnificent view of towering Norfolk Island Pines that sway in the breeze. These graceful giants, framed by the soaring windows of the great room, flank the 6th fairway of the Woods nine of the 27-hole Makai Golf Course.

Lei Aloha is a comfortably and tastefully appointed home that has been professionally decorated with thoughtful attention to detail. This breezy, Hawaiian home of over 3200 square feet will generously accommodate your family and friends in four bedrooms and three and one-half baths, which will comfortably sleep eight guests. One master suite and two guest bedrooms are on the first level, all opening onto the courtyard and the pool through French doors. An additional bedroom is located on the second level, and features a deck that overlooks the pool to the distant Bali Hai view (don't miss the sunset!).

The master bedroom suite in a private wing of the home is furnished with a king-size Tommy Bahama bed. This suite is complete with a spacious bath with double sinks, a Jacuzzi tub and separate marble shower. The Master bedroom is the only room in the home with Air conditioning. This suite also features 26" LCD flat-panel television and DVD. A gracious desk overlooking the pool is the perfect spot to address postcards or set up your laptop computer. An additional king suite features tropical intrigue and romantic drama with the graceful draping of mosquito netting around a bamboo bed. The queen suite with private marble bath features a walk-in shower.

The fourth bedroom (upstairs) has two twin beds, as well as a desk to facilitate working from your vacation home, if you insist! All bedrooms have cable television. This property has Brazilian cherry wood floors throughout this light, airy home, designed for easy living. A separate laundry room with washer and dryer is available for your convenience. The two-car garage on an automatic opener makes handling groceries and luggage a snap!

This home is equipped for your entertainment with digital cable TV (including HD), DVD, and high-speed internet access throughout the house. The property is oriented to take advantage of refreshing trade winds that keep the home a comfortable temperature. Your family can spread out in this restful home featuring an open floor plan from the great room to the dining area and to the kitchen. The dining area, including a formal dining table and a breakfast bar, seats eight people comfortably. The gourmet kitchen, featuring granite counter-tops, mahogany cabinetry, and cooking space for multiple cooks, is well equipped for a light breakfast or a full dinner! Meal preparation is easy with a multitude of both large and small appliances, ample cookware, and dinner service for twelve!

You will enjoy the outdoor spaces as much as the indoor spaces! Enjoy your morning coffee on the lanai, or on the lawn, under a palm tree next to the pool. Or fire up the gas barbecue on the patio overlooking the Makai golf course for that fresh mahi-mahi you picked up from the local fish market! An outdoor dining table graces the patio, making it difficult not to relax! The grounds of this property are enclosed by a stucco wall, providing privacy for sunning and swimming, and giving guests the feeling of being in their own compound. Professional landscape artists have insured that the fruit and foliage of the tropics will delight you. There is almost always a ripe papaya on one of the papaya trees, and fresh lemons and limes are often available for cooking or cocktails! In addition to the tropical plants mentioned above, the fragrances of mock orange, pua kenikeni, jasmine and pikake at various times of the year will confirm that you are in paradise!

Lei Aloha is a great place to do absolutely nothing. The comfort and ambiance provided by this private home offer the rationale for doing nothing for as long as you want, completely without guilt! Slow down, take a break, unwind, loosen up, chill out, put your feet up. And when you are as relaxed as you can possibly get, Lei Aloha is a terrific place from which to do just about everything. Play golf on the Prince course, one of Golf Digest's top-rated golf courses. Or choose the 18-hole Makai Golf Course (formerly Lakes Nine and Ocean Nine) for a challenging round, or Woods Nine if you would like an easier course. If your preference is tennis, you'll enjoy the Princeville Tennis Club with six Plexi-pave courts, a full-service Pro Shop and one of the most beautiful sites in the world for tennis.

Princeville is the gateway to an amazing range of activities on Kauai's scenic North Shore. Just a few minutes' drive will have you kayaking emerald rivers, touring the canyons and valleys by helicopter, hiking to secluded beaches or along the Na Pali Coast, horseback riding to waterfalls, deep-sea fishing and whale-watching. The shops and restaurants of Princeville Center are just minutes from the house. Or for an elegant shopping and dining experience, the St. Regis Hotel offers gourmet cuisine and chic boutiques, as well as a long, crescent-shaped beach, great for swimming, or a moonlit stroll.

A number of small, secluded beaches can be found in the Princeville area for those willing to hike a short distance. Keep a close watch for sea turtles off the rocks surrounding Queen Emma's Bath! Or take a short drive (less than 10 minutes) to the quaint town of Hanalei, for one of the world's best beaches.

Princeville's weather often includes brilliant, tropical sunshine, scattered rain showers throughout the day, and torrential downpours that last only a few minutes. A benefit of the frequent, but brief showers, experienced on the North Shore, is that our vegetation on the north side of Kauai is much more green and lush than the more arid and desert-like South Shore. Although there can be more rainfall in the winter season in Princeville, it is rare to experience prolonged periods of precipitation. When it's raining in Princeville, you have a choice of waiting 10 minutes for the sun, or driving 10 minutes, where you will typically find sunshine somewhere nearby! Princeville's temperature is mild and pleasant throughout the year, with only a small temperature difference between night and day. Water temperatures tend to average around 80 degrees in the summer and 73 degrees in the winter.

The pool at Lei Aloha, like most pools in Hawaii, is heated by the warm, tropical sun. The water temperature will vary with the weather conditions. Water temperature in the winter will usually be in the mid-70s, and in the summer, the low to mid-80s. Your perspective as to whether the pool is warm enough may depend on your frame of reference. We find that guests coming from very cold climates find the pool enjoyable, even in the winter months. However, if you are coming from a warm climate, you may find the winter water temperatures in the pool to be a little daunting! Those who have enjoyed this property generally agree that on a warm day, the pool feels refreshing, whatever the temperature!

Those considering the rental of Lei Aloha may be interested to know the orientation of the pool to the rest of the property. The property is a corner lot with a stucco wall that parallels the two street sides of the property. The pool is located between the stucco wall and the house. Gates are located at both ends of the stucco wall. The gates do not extend to the ground. The front entrance to the house faces the pool and the stucco wall. The front entrance consists of a wood and glass door with a deadbolt lock and a screen door with a sliding latch. There are three sets of French doors from the hallway to the front lanai leading to the pool, each with a deadbolt lock. There are two sets of sliding doors from the master suite to the pool area, each with a factory latching device. The sliding doors from the living and dining area lead to a stone patio that is open to the rear yard and the golf course beyond.

Our family of 6 had a fantastic stay in this truly unique home. Loved the pool, private yard and convenient location to groceries, restaurants and park. A 5 min drive to Anini Beach (Our Family Favorite) and others an easy 10-15 min drive. Home was well equipped and organized and offered spacious rooms especially the Master Suite which is a private oasis in itself. The upscale neighborhood is quiet and lovely to stroll and explore. 
Would also like to thank Kauai Vacation Rentals as they were prompt and professional to deal with. We appreciated the thoughtful welcome package of shopping bags, cooler bags and tasty treats.

We stayed here with my two children (5 and 2 years old) and my sister in law's family (3 and 1 year old) and we had an amazing time. The property is perfect for children. It is really close to the local grocery store and Hanalei. We plan to stay here next time we come to Kauai. The house was very nice and very comfortable. Overall I would highly recommend this house to any one. Its like having your own resort to yourself.

My family and I stayed at the Lei Aloha house in Princeville this past July and absolutely loved it! The house was beautifully decorated with canvas pictures of Kauai and it was spacious enough for 8 or more people. The house was well equipped and super clean.
