a surfer's paradise
Overall this rental great. It has easy access to all the West side attractions (Waimea Canyon, Salt Pond Beach, Kauai Coffee Plantation, etc..) The location is a local surfer hotspot. This isn't a place for little kids to go splashing. It would be nice to have a little KVR sign next to the correct driveway once you go through the gate to avoid confusion. Remember to be respectful of the feral cats, feral pigs, chickens and geckos too!

amazing!!
My husband and I loved staying here!! The house property was peaceful and the general area. Amazing sunsets with access to the beach which is a great surf spot. We really loved the quiet vibe of the West side of the island. Highly recommend!

beautiful location, a few minor issues
This is the third time we rented the house, a few things could be improved. The house flatware is lacking small spoons, there are mostly soup spoons. The kitchen window over the sink needed cleaning. We like the new furniture and the barbeque. It would be great to hve a garbage disposal. Other than that we look forward to next year. There are three yellow jacket nests on the front railing on the righthand side at the top between the railng and the house. Also on the other starcase to the trash midway under the handrail next to the house. We saw them just as we were leaving. I recommnd the black cap with a white can wasp killer at Home Depot, not the green can you have there. Chris is a beekeeper.

great location
The house has a fantastic location. There is easy beach access right behind the house, and it’s located in a quiet area. The beach is public, so there is a lot of foot traffic. The house is comfortable, with all the basic amenities. The bbq needs work, and the kitchen doesn’t have basic stocked items. You’ll need to bring salt, cooking oil, coffee filters, etc to make cooking easier.

westside charm
Hale Pakala is a very comfortable, well equipped home far removed from the resorts of Poipu and Kapaa. The property is lovely with the sounds of the ocean, lots of bird life, ever present chickens and quite a few pigs. The chickens go to bed and the pigs come out. On a clear night the skies are spectacular, and at the end of a clear day you can watch the sun descend to the ocean from your own strip of beach.
Just five minutes from Waimea and less than ten from Salt Pond Park and Hanapepe, all the unique attractions of the west side are within easy reach.
It is ideally suited for those on return visits to Kauai perhaps, as those who are coming to explore for the first time may wish to be more centrally located. However, if you love the drier more settled climate of the west island then Hale Pakala is an ideal choice.

firemans retreat
Everything was great except for the Keawe thorns that are in the yard when it gets mowed.
Maybe they mow the lawn they could pickup the keawe branches.Thank you letting us checkin early.

private paradise
We had an outstanding time at Hale Pakala! A private beach house on 3 acres. The description and pictures are accurate. The town of Waimea is only 3-minute drive away where you will find groceries, restaurants, and the entrance to Waimea Canyon.
The house is fully supplied with a great kitchen, 2 living rooms, 2 full baths and 2 bedrooms. Linens and towels are first rate, and the beds are very comfortable. The house was very clean.
It all makes for a great and private getaway.

11 days at pakala house
Kauai vacation rentals is a top notch very professional rental management company. They are also very accessible and friendly and go out of their way to spread aloha to their clients. Mahalo
Our only issue was that the gas BBQ was very dirty, rusted out and worked poorly to the point of being unusable.

lovely property
Spacious accommodation. Upgraded appliances. Older house. A/C in master bedroom did not work. Close to beach, but beach not walkable. Overall unit was enjoyable. Very close to trails and Waimea Canyon.

september trip
Hale Pakala is a great place to stay if you don't mind HOT temp during the days & warm nights. There were 2- stand up fans & ceiling fans that helped.There was ants if you did not clean up food spills good. At night the geckos are out on the lanai for the bugs that are attracted to the lights if you leave them on.The area is DARK, great to look at stars. bring Flashlights to use out side. Kiawe trees around the yard drop thorns around the yard and beach access. You need thick slippers or shoes to walk around and to beach. Location is on the westside, far from Costco in Lihue. Traffic tricky, you need to leave Lihue to westside before 3pm to avoid traffic. Ocean is nice but sometimes brown water, little sharky, crowded when surf is up. This is a great place for our needs!!!!

westside gem
As a return guest, I can highly recommend Pakala house for a peaceful beautiful ocean view home that represents the westside of Kauai. Close to Waimea shopping, restaurants and recreation . This is a diamond �� that will give you the true Hawaiian �� experience!! Acres of lawn leading to your own 2 mile beach ��️ walk or ocean experience. Enjoy.
