Westside Charm
Reviewed on 2024-11-27 by , Chemainus, BC, Canada CanadaJust five minutes from Waimea and less than ten from Salt Pond Park and Hanapepe, all the unique attractions of the west side are within easy reach.
It is ideally suited for those on return visits to Kauai perhaps, as those who are coming to explore for the first time may wish to be more centrally located. However, if you love the drier more settled climate of the west island then Hale Pakala is an ideal choice.

Relax & Enjoy Kauai Sunsets ... Credit: HTA / Tor Johnson [56]This is a beautiful, very private home sitting on 3 acres on the beach. The sunsets are spectacular, and the view from the deck is the ocean and Niihau. A short walk and you're on a gorgeous beach where you can watch surfers at the popular surf spot, Infinity, also known as Pakala.
If you are looking for a place where you can just rest and relax, this is it! Besides the 2 spacious bedrooms & baths, there is a fully-equipped kitchen, living room and family room. A table that seats six is on the deck where you can enjoy meals outdoors.
There are many boat tours of the Na Pali coastline nearby and the road to Waimea Canyon and Kalalau Lookout are just minutes away as well. We are descendants of the Sinclair/Robinson family who arrived in 1864 and purchased the island of Niihau from King Kamehameha V. The land where this house sits and all the surrounding lands, the ahupua'a of Makaweli, was purchased from Victoria Kamamalu, granddaughter of King Kamehameha I, a few years later. We offer a taste of Old Hawai'i here in Makaweli.
