We truly enjoyed all aspects of the rental experience. Was an amazing place to wake up to and watch the ocean. Very relaxing and clean. Had all the amenities needed to enjoy the beach! Will be back!

stunning views in a spacious condo
This ocean is your backyard in this beautiful condo! We enjoyed our stay, and being able to sit on the porch and watch the whales every day. The condo is a little older but has new appliances and bathrooms. There was some noise from the upstairs neighbors on some days, but mostly it was a quiet, serene slice of paradise. The property was clean and they provided everything you could want for a Hawaiian vacation; coolers, chairs, boogie boards, towels, and even books! The kitchen was very well stocked with a variety of appliances and utensils, and plenty of cookware, dishes, glasses, and cups. The property management was helpful and polite. I would definitely stay here again!

kauai and chill
The overall experience at Poipu Makai was lovely. The only issue was solved within minutes as Ms.Vicky was on the job. The beds are on the hard side of firm. The view from that lanai though is five star.

beautiful views but be mindful of the stairs & strange noises
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Poipu Makai (B1). The views were absolutely stunning – waking up to the scenery each morning was a highlight of the trip. We saw sea turtles, dolphins, rainbows & amazing sunsets right from the back patio! The accommodations were very comfortable for our group of four, with plenty of space to relax. The unit was clean, nicely decorated, and had everything we needed for a great stay.
That said, there are a few things to be aware of. The condo is a walk-up, so be prepared for a lot of stairs. Yes, B1 is a ground-floor unit, but the way it’s constructed it’s still a lot of stairs. It wasn’t a big problem for us, but something to keep in mind if mobility is an issue—especially if you have heavy luggage. Parking was also a bit tricky and tight, but it’s covered. Lastly, there was a strange vibrating noise at times, which we found was due to a water hammer issue in the plumbing. It’s worse when the outdoor irrigation is on, and can be very disturbing while sleeping.
Overall, we had a great time and would recommend this spot to travelers who don’t mind a little extra workout and a few quirks in exchange for the incredible views and cozy accommodations.

We had a wonderful stay at this condo, for four nights in May, 2025. It was spacious, with a well stocked kitchen and two separate lanais. The master bedroom mattress was very comfortable. The location was perfect, 0.6 mi from Brenneke's Beach, a great bodysurfing break. Shipwreck Beach was just a couple of minutes down the road. The sunsets were gorgeous.

perfection out your lanai!
We had a wonderful stay! The view you get for the cost you pay cannot be beat. Everything was perfect, beds were comfy, place was very clean, neighbors were super friendly, and we watched turtles and whales nonstop! We will be back and try and stay here!

second time, both great!
First time two years before, this time was even better: New appliances; new ductless air conditioning (albeit, a bit noisy for about an hour after shutdown); walk-out to front lawn; improved swimming pool and grill. Improvement request: you really need to improve the sliding door lock in the second bedroom; or, at least highlight the secret to making it work. Had advance contact with Management company, always great! No problems.

mature unit, outstanding view
A very nice place to stay, this unit had an outstanding view of (as in >30ft from) the ocean. It is older, so it could use some TLC (e.g. bring your own Roku), but all-in-all it was a pleasant place for a Kauai trip.
It is well located for any activities you'll want to undertake!

Rental was very large and well supplied. Location was perfect. Unfortunately the lack of a useable pool would deter us from renting in this location again, but if a pool is not something you need then this is a great facility

location, location, location
Loved being oceanfront. Though units on either side it still felt very private. Enjoyed the extensive oceanfront trail that can be accessed heading out of the parking ramp and immediately to the right. Great vantage point for critter watching as it passes in front of resort complex and past the golf course. Whales, turtles, monk seals all present in late February. Unit was in good shape in general. A few items showed their age as things tend to do so close to the ocean, (ie. kitchen window corroded shut). No A/C in the unit (fans only) wasn't a significant issue at the time of year we were there but it might be at other times.

We enjoyed the property and it’s location, shopping was easy and distances to attractions were good. A few items, door knobs, sliding door gear etc., were showing their age, or closeness to the sea, but overall very well maintained.

I loved my stay at this condo. It was exactly as advertised. 10 min. walk to beaches and a couple restaurants, abt 15 min. walk to more restaurants. Saw whales every day. Very quiet, private location. I would definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay at Poipu Makai B-1. It was so relaxing to go down the trail and sit on the lava rocks to watch the sea turtles. It’s a short drive to the beach or to get a Puka Dog. The condo had everything we needed for a wonderful time. I loved the view and even the Hawaiian cookbooks were helpful. We would definitely stay again.

beautiful location
This is a great condo in a great area. The view from the lanai is breathtaking. We spent every morning enjoying our coffee out there, watching the sea turtles and occasional dolphins. Quite with everything we needed for our stay. Walking distance between beaches was perfect.

The folks at Kauai vacation rental are incredibly friendly, make your stay a breeze, but perhaps most relevantly run beautiful places.
The property was well situated, had the fantastic natural beauty that you would expect, and kept clean.
