absolutely wonderful place
From the moment we spotted the lovely looking little home at the end of the path, we were smitten. Light and airy, tastefully furnished, fully equipped, great little deck with dipping pool, lots of room. Surrounded by trees so very private with cheerful birdsong each morning. Kitchen with everything we needed and outdoor electric barbecue. Beach chairs and other beach items available. Management team totally friendly and helpful. Convenient parking with wheelbarrow to help move suitcases from parking, down the path to the cabin. Just a perfect place.

wonderful vacation
We spent 3 nights -almost 4 days at this lovely cottage. It is located in such a way that it felt like were alone in our little slice of paradise. It was also lovely to have the little pool.
Our only gripes would be that it is really not walkable to the beach, and neither of the bedrooms has a full wall.
On the plus side, if you’re planning on doing a lot of cooking they have amazing knives.

perfect spot
Best spot for us to come back to Kauai and spend time with our son and grandson. 30plus years living on island and we feel at home in this unit. Thank you Pali Uli Gem- see you very soon again!

the gem
We stayed 3 nights at this place. Overall it was okay. I didn't realize that the place did not have air conditioning when I booked it and even though they had fans everywhere, it was really hot during the day.
The cottage is about 500 ft from the parking area and with the heat it was hard to walk with our luggage. Also when we left going up hill with our belongings was hard.
They don't provide shampoo and conditioner which was very surprising to me.
The location was good, about 13 min drive to Hanalei Bay which is where we went most of the time.

special place
This little cottage is definitely an experience in and of itself. It's at the end of a little pathway, extremely quiet and extremely beautiful. All of the listing data matched with our experience. The only thing that was lacking in our opinion was air conditioning. This place gets very hot and muggy. In the two weeks we stayed there it was very difficult to recover from the exhausting humidity and heat. I feel like our vacation would've been significantly better if we had the sleep we needed without feeling miserable throughout the nights. In our humble opinion his place would be unbeatable if it weren't for the lack of any kind of air conditioning. There was a mini split air conditioner on the wall but it did not work - something that should be fixed without question. Be prepared for the muggy heat if you choose to stay at this place.

romantic getaway from wintery weather
We planned a romantic vacation to celebrate a birthday, anniversary and Valentine’s Day. The “Gem” is cozy, clean, and nestled beside a tropical forest where birdsongs greeted us each morning. The management is easy to reach to answer questions and very responsive.
Just a short walk away was the path to a gorgeous, secluded beach. A grocery store and restaurants are minutes away by car. The most beautiful Hanalei Bay and beach is a 15 minute drive with parking available. In Princeville, the “Gem” is close to hikes along NaPali Coast (with prior reservations), lighthouses and gardens. We would definitely come back again!!

perfect spot
Best cottage on the block. Super secluded and felt like we were in our own world. Only negatives I would give it was there were fleas in one of the beds and when we reached out to management (twice), we never got any kind of response. Luckily there was another bed and it was just us as a couple so we switched beds. Also I wish there were clear instructions on how to maintain the pool's cleanliness. Lastly, the septic tank is close by the pool/kitchen window and will blow out some stinky water debris every few flushes! We would stay again but maybe after a couple of improvements!

great and secluded
We had booked a place at Sealodge, then switched to the Gem. It helped us stay more isolated for noise (we couldn’t hear neighbors, and hopefully neighbors couldn’t hear our 5 year old). Place was great, clean, and had a beach trunk full of pool noodles, flippers, and snorkels. There’s more photos of the owner and their family than you’d expect, and a lot of Christian crosses, but maybe that makes guests take care of it better. Place could use a Yale code lock to avoid having to pick up and drop off keys at the rental office. The king bed was good enough, the couch feels rough to the touch- but is otherwise clean, there’s an odd stone threshold in the guest bedroom, and some gecko guano above the door frames. Overall great, would stay again.

secluded and oh so comfortable!
The Gem cottage lived up to its name! What a treat to stay in this nicely furnished, clean, charming, and comfortable home. The dipping pool was a refreshing start to the day and a relaxing soak at the end of the day after hiking, swimming, or dining. If we return to the northern part of Kauai, we would love to stay in The Gem again. Mahalo!

nice kauai cottage
Very nice cottage. Was clean and homey and very well stocked with everything we needed. During our stay it rained more than normal so we didn't use the pool. But it looked nice. We will stay there again if we go back.

love the gem!
This was our 6th trip to Kauai and the 2nd time staying in "The Gem". We love how close it is to everything we need, yet feels so private tucked back away from it all! Everything in the house was clean, stocked, and well kept. The pool is nice for a quick dip to cool off. Having a washer/dryer is a major convenience! We will definitely be back again!

perfect location, beautiful home
My husband and I stayed at The Gem recently and absolutely loved it. The bungalow is a lofted beautiful space. The whole unit feels very private and clean. The porch was such a great feature. We loved using the outdoor shower and small pool. There is so much lush forest around the porch, you will feel like you are in a bird sanctuary. They even provide binoculars if you want a better look at the birds.
It's perfectly located in Princeville, with easy access to the beautiful beaches of the north. There was even a fun night market that was walkable from the property while we were there.
Stay here for as long as you can! Highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pali Uli 8. All the prior reviews were spot on. The place is a perfect place to find peace and appreciate the beauty of the island. The staff at Kauai Vacation Rentals were amazing. It made the stay even more enjoyable
