There is a king and queen size bed, full kitchen, breakfast room, couch with Queen size sofa bed, cable TV, wireless internet access, walk in & deluxe ceiling mounted rain shower, tropical outdoor shower, and use of laundry room on property. There are beautiful marble counters in the bathroom and granite counter tops in the kitchen.

Kolohala has a beautifully landscaped yard, with tropical plants, palms and orchids for all to Enjoy!

Absolutely Beatuiful Location with Simple Recommendations

The design and location of the house are spectacular. The woodwork is lovely. I miss the outdoor seating area already, even though some of the chairs are uncomfortable. We enjoyed renting bicycles for the week so that we could easily get to Tunnels Beach. There were a few moments of frustration with the amenities of the house though. We like to cook, but the refrigerator, even turned down, froze my farmer's market veggies (twice) and it's leaky. The dishwasher was sporadic at best, often not releasing the soap, so we had to rewash the dishes by hand. The stove is not great. There were few good pans at first. The reading lights in the master bedroom go on and off which is frustrating for a family of readers. The seating area in the living room is okay, not great for back support. The stereo doesn't work, and more fans are needed. However, Kauai Vacation rentals has the best service. They brought over new pans, a rice cooker, and a new toaster. They also had someone clean the kitchen. We appreciated that. still, it's quite pricey, which is understandable for Kauai. With a simple renovation in the kitchen and a better seating area, the house would be superb. I wish I could say I would rent it again, but I think the kitchen needs an update for the price.

The moment we left Kolohala, we were missing this incredibly beautiful and peaceful piece of Earth that we found peace and solitude each day and evening of our stay. If you love animals, you will fall in love with the horses, cows, donkey, roosters, birds and cats that all live in harmony. We were also blessed with a baby calf that was precious. The house is beautiful and clean with all the essentials you will need. The rooms are large and the primary bathroom is amazing with the rain shower. The outside deck is great for early morning sunrises and evening sunsets with meadows and mountains for a glorious background. A few recommendations for guests: the house is not walkable to town and has several one lane bridges to drive over to get to the property. Everyone is very courteous, so not hard to navigate; therefore, buy your groceries before you leave town. 3 essentials we needed first day were coffee, shampoo and conditioner. The house has coffee filters and bar soap. First day: read the rule book! The book will tell you all you need to know about navigating the house and the island. There is a Kauai travel book there as well that was great to read. Find the path to the ocean across the street! It’s much shorter and you don’t have to drive. You can walk to the nearby restaurant Opakapaka Grill, the cocktails are great by the ocean. Recommend the Haena State Park for hiking but reserve your pass early. We did the shuttle that was easy and it wasn’t far to drive to. We hiked several trails on the North Shore and they were hard and muddy. We used the hiking sticks from downstairs in the laundry room. Those sticks saved our lives!!! Thank you to the owners for thinking of them! When you arrive at the house, you will see a lot of signs posted of do’s and don’ts that may seem like there are a lot of “rules” to follow. The house is beautifully crafted with fine detailing throughout. Very nice house. The location is extremely relaxing and a great place to just read a book on the patio or enjoy the Jurassic park view of the lush landscape surroundings. The snorkeling beach is not too far, my young adult kids walked to it but we drove early to get a parking spot. There are little beaches within walking distance as well. Great place for relaxing.

Cool breezes, open air with no AC. Wrap around lanai, beautiful view of pastoral pasture and mountains. Interesting books on Hawaii history, culture and nature. Close to beaches. Gorgeous well appointed home.

Kolohala is a beautiful, well-appointed, and comfortable home with lots of windows and a lovely wrap-around deck overlooking mostly serene pasture. Lush, green mountains in the distance provide a stunning backdrop. Birds are in abundance and their songs serenade throughout the day. Roosters and chickens are also abundant, and together with the occasional hee-hawing of a nearby mule (even in the middle of the night), you feel off the beaten path and removed from the hustle and bustle of city life. The master bed was very comfortable and the glass shower in the master bathroom was truly a revelation and revealing at the same time. I’ll leave it at that. We walked about 5-10 minutes to different parts of the nearby beach to enjoy stunning sunrises and rainbows and the healing sounds of the ocean, all with hardly anyone around. The house is not air conditioned, but the air moves well throughout the house due to all the windows, etc. Yes, the house is located on the north side of the island, and getting anywhere takes time, but that didn’t bother me at all, as the tropical beauty of Kauai never gets old. We greatly enjoyed our stay!

This property was wonderful and the stay was fantastic. Beautiful, clean home with all needed amenities. I had an issue with the electricity due to a rainstorm and KVR responded immediately and helpfully. The location is a lovely north shore getaway from all the crowds. I do wish it were a bit more simple to get to the beach but that's just how it is up there. There are not obvious signs for the public beach. But there is a hand drawn map in the welcome book. Overall amazing stay!

Kolohala is a beautiful home. So well crafted! I enjoyed just marveling at how amazing the home is. Gorgeous backyard. It was wonderful just sitting on the deck looking out at the meadow and mountain. It's a quick walk to the beach. I can't praise this property enough, I felt so lucky to be there.
