The Hanalei Plantation was accurately described in its listing, and the location was hard to beat. It accommodated our family of six adults very comfortably. The property was clean, but felt weathered overall. I would recommend this property, with a few caveats. It felt like a classic beach cottage in many ways. However there were holes in many of the window screens, so mosquitoes were able to enter freely. Nearby Hanalei and the end of the road beaches were all wonderfully accessible from this house. We would happily return to this home (if the screens were repaired)!

a beautiful location
An amazing place to stay with 4 BRs and 3.5 ensuite baths. Kauai Vacation Rentals was super nice and helpful. It was perfect to wake up and look out onto the the ocean and sunrise from the living room or the covered porch. A nice secluded beach area is a few steps from the home --across the road. You could probably walk to Hanalei beach around the bay! There is no A/C but in March, nights were cool with ceiling flans and floor fans. With windows closed (lots of roosters), we slept great! The home was clean and had all that we needed to cook and clean. There was nothing to do at departure but leave, which was perfect for no chores on vacation! :) Please note that for older folks the entrance to the home is up a steep set of exterior steps to the dining room, living room, and kitchen. There are 2 BRs on this same 2nd floor --1 with only a half bath. The matching tub with shower is around the corner, next to washer dryer on this floor. There is only 1 walk-in shower in this home (again for older folks) and it is in the other BR on the 2nd floor. The exterior steps can feel sketchy in the rain. Our older family members used the interior steps (very safe) and exit/entered the 1st floor bedroom doors to the outside. The 2 1st floor bedrooms have entrances from the porch straight into the bedrooms. Both of these BRs are ensuite with tub/shower. There is a large living room on the 1st floor. Suggestion: a trim to the bushes may be needed to better see cars coming down the road when backing out of the driveway. In sum, our group of 6 had an amazing stay and made lost of memories documented in a million photos.

hanalei plantation-kaua’i
In terms of location, it was great! I went to enjoy the ocean’s beauty and wonder—and it was perfect for that. I referred to the little beach area across the street as my own private beach.
We did have a list of items I thought should’ve been taken care of before guests arrive. For instance, only three of the burners on the stove worked. That was the biggest item. As long as I can find enough people to fill the bedrooms: family and/or friends, I’d stay there again.

perfect home for a family getaway
It had been several years since we stayed in Hanalei Bay and this home was just perfect. We were traveling with teens and the downstairs area (off limits to grownups!) was just perfect. The home was well appointed with everything we needed and with each room having its own bathroom was a bonus. It should be noted that in terms of food etc you need to bring EVERYTHING - spices, etc as there isn't anything in the kitchen. Also the home is on propane so a gas stove (for those who like to cook) is also a huge bonus. In terms of the rental company - they are always available and incredibly responsive. We will absolutely be renting again!

comfortable large home for a large group in central hanalei area
Pros: nice view of bay from large covered front porch; lots of bathrooms; gas appliances in kitchen; well equipped kitchen; large fridge; plenty of dishes & cups; dishwasher; beach gear (chairs, towels); comfortable beds; lots of hot water from flash-water-heater; gas BBQ worked great; easy access to highway and central to our favorite north-coast locations; close walk to an OK family beach area, although best are a short drive.
Cons: long steep stairs to 2nd floor front entrance, which were often wet from rain & required care to use; no AC so need to leave all the windows & doors open (always good breezes) but road noise and roosters made sleeping a challenge; some windows and exterior doors didn't work; bushes along road need trimming to safely pull out from driveway

perfect location for large group of adults
Very nice vacational rental. We were a group of 8 adults so 4 separate bedrooms each with their own bathroom/shower was great. There is a quiet beach just across the road, and the house is minutes from stores shopping and the shuttle to take you into Haena. Had a great stay here.

We stayed at Hanalei plantation . Loved the location right across from the beach, beautiful views, easy access. Appreciate the 4 bedrooms are spaced out to give 4 couples each privacy and each had their own bathroom. Clean, comfortable property. Good communication. Would be easier if didn’t have to pick up and drop off keys but wasn’t an issue as we flew out of Lihue and it’s close to the airport.

wonderful house!
We loved this house and really you can not beat the location. We were able to sit on the deck and look out at the ocean or walk across the street and be at our own beach. It was very peaceful and beautiful spot. We will be back!

kauai fun
Nice place with lots of room. The weather was so so in Mar-April but we knew that before we rented. Lots of rain did not affect us much. Restaurants were very good to exceptional; markets were good and we cooked in the house most nights.

beautiful hanalei bay view
Wife and I stayed here for 7 weeks with a revolving group of friends and family as our guests. We loved the home. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the front porch watching the “Middles” surf break right out front.

40th anniversary & family celebration
We wanted to celebrate our 40th with our sons & their wives and we wanted this celebration to be special, that’s why we chose the island of Kauai. When I found the Hanalei Planation, I thought PERFECT! It had everything we were looking for, large living space, each couple had their own bedroom and bathroom. We were right across the street from the beach. We saw the sunrise every morning. It was beautiful! This was a wonderful place to gather as a family. We all fell in love with Hanalei Plantation and the island of Kauai. We hope to come back someday.

hanalei on the bay
After many years of coming to Kauai, this was our first time staying on the north side of the island. We had 4 couples staying, with one's first time on Kauai. The location was ideal for all of the northern beaches and visiting the north shore towns. The home was great for accommodating all of us and enjoying the view of Hanalei Bay. If I had any negatives regarding the home, it would be the overall cleanliness and maintenance that has been lacking at the home.

spacious home
This home was perfect for our family. Very spacious and comfortable. Each bedroom had its own full bath with an additional 2 half baths on each floor. There was a good breeze from Hanalei Bay and it was deck had great views.

plantation holiday
Without dipping too pedantically into the endless vat of superlatives for this property i will recommend it highly for the following reasons:
1. great location at the quite end of Hanalei bay. it is situated at the front of a historic farm and taro fields in the Makaihuwaa valley. You can walk across the road to a small beach good for swimming or hanging out or walk down to the bigger beaches, do stay off the private lands near the beach though.
2. The house is somewhat recently renovated and in good shape for the most part but really its size and layout is fantastic for large families or friends. all bedrooms are en-suite and spacious with good airflow and verandas for most of them.
3. Activities abound for all of our family members, from the low tech walkers to the surf sports adventures. I liked being able to go for a swim in the ocean after dinner.
a couple of minor issues are worth mentioning:
-The front steps are the steepness of a Mayan temple and if you have less mobile members in your party use the interior staircase accessing from the bedroom patios below or back door, the vinyl railings at the front are flimsy and should not be leaned against, the wifi is weak and not usable in parts of the house so i had to conduct business on cell-data which worked OK.
I would not hesitate to be here again and my family and friends are all happy with our stay!

hanalei is heavenly
What an awesome home in a beautiful location that our family was able to enjoy. On the first night there was a heavy rain and the sound was so relaxing with the ocean in the background .Lot's of space and comfortable furniture, everyone had a spot to chill. Great family room for cards and meals. Found a nice coconut floating along the beach. Busted it open and we had fresh coconut all week. We had a fun adventure floating down the old sugar cane irrigation canal. This was my vision of a perfect family Hawaiian vacation. Thank you to Kauai Vacation Rentals. They are an awesome company to work with! Also a big Thank You to the people of Hawaii for sharing the peace and beauty of the islands!

fantastic location on hanalei bay
This house was perfect for four couples. Each room had its own bathroom and the dining table was large enough to accommodate everyone. Beach access was right across the street. WIFI was somewhat limited to the main floor. The entire house, inside and out could use a thorough cleaning and general maintenance, however, we would stay here again because of the beautiful views and great location.

wonderful family trip to kauai
We stayed at Hanalei Plantation for a week in Early Feb 2022. The house was the perfect location for a week of quiet relaxation. It's close enough to town yet tucked away when we needed a bit of quiet. We would love stay there again!

hanalei plantation house was great
Six of us had a great stay in this beautiful house. The location across from the bay was perfect with the gentle sound of the ocean waves all night. The property management company was appropriately absent until we needed help with an appliance. They showed up instantly and resolved the issue that we had caused immediately. I would certainly rent from them again.
