We loved everything about Nakea Cottage and Anini Beach. The cottage has a good view of the ocean, with a large front porch. We also loved the view from the kitchen and eating bar. The shower was fine, and the bed was comfy. We loved the open-air structure, which allowed us to feel the tropical, damp air. The property management and owner were very helpful when we had a question. We also loved Anini Beach. It is very peaceful and uncrowded, a beautiful place to stroll and dip in the warm water. We also liked the location. It's a short drive to Kilauea, Princeville, and Hanalei Bay. When we get to return to Hawaii, we'll come back here!

We stayed at Nakea Cottage the first week of June 2023. I enjoyed waking up to see the lush plants alongside and behind the house. There were many birds.. Overall we enjoyed our time there at Anini Beach. The kitchen was clean and very well stocked. The home actually has three bathrooms. It has ceiling fans and standing fans, no ac. The living room fan is ineffective. Make sure to bring and use deet bug repellent. At first I tried using an herbal repellent but it did not keep me from getting bug bites. The last block or so of the road to get there is dirt with ruts. Our rental car had low clearance so it was very difficult to drive over the dirt road. It will be best to rent a suv when you go to Nakea Cottage. It is well equipped for cooking and everything you need for going to the beach is provided. Set back from the road makes it feel very private. The scenery is beautiful so we had a very relaxing week. I do recommend this rental home, just make sure to be prepared.

Ok stay, but could have been great with some small additions. The property was as indicated in the ad. The house was across the road from beach, spacious, and clean. All items needed to prepare meals or head to the beach were present. The major complaint we had was the amount of moisture in the house...the laminate floors were wet every morning to the point of being slippery and the bedding was damp every night. Fans were running in the bedrooms and living room all day, every day, during our 7 day stay. Our clothing in suitcases even became damp. A wall mount AC or a de-humidifier to pull out the moisture would have worked wonders, would prolong the lifetime of the laminate flooring/furniture and reduce the strong musty smell.

We have stayed in this same home for numerous years, and feel like it is our home away from home. The house is in a great location with direct access to the beach. The home is comfortable and suits us to a T. It could use a good baseboard to baseboard cleaning, but overall it is clean, functional and comfortable. We love sitting on the lanai at night especially having our drinks and dinner!

Nakea Cottage, around the corner from Anini Beach is simple, clean and just perfect for a quiet, calm Kauai stay. House has everything one needs and the location is great for swimming and snorkeling and more!
