We liked the Princeville location as we were able to get out and explore the northshore places and beaches easily. The views were great as the unit is out on top of a cliff. We felt secure even though the winds were really blowing outside. The unit has no AC and a lot of the windows ventilation were closed off via boarding that prevented the best air circulation. The bed has firm foam mattress which was ok for me but harder than other beds in the condos. The theme was distinctly oriental with beautiful white sofa and white carpeting. There are beach chairs and equipment accessories that augmented the beach experiences. The management team was really nice and caring, calling to see how we liked the place the day we arrived. I wish there was the electronic locks like some other condos have such as the hospitality app with key information and the door codes etc. The wifi is individual so I felt that was secure (we use security software suite as well). The walkway to the unit is a challenge for the acrophobe as it looks like you are going to walk off the cliff as the turn to go over the units catwalk appears to go into space. We have been to this unit before and love the view from the lanai.

Overall very nice unit, especially the views. Would be nice if we did not have to pick up and drop off the keys at KVR in Lihue; perhaps replace with an electronic key pad or lock box with a code? Also furniture are a bit dated and tv instructions not clear.

First, thank you for checking to see if my necklace fell on the carpet. We found it in our luggage. We found the view spectacular however, the unit is very much in need of a complete overall. The main bedroom has no ventilation so could use an air condition split that doesn't blow on you. Bathrooms so in need of a complete update, I won't go into details. Could be a little cleaner. Again the whole unit needs to be gutted and updated. With that said, it's Kauai. We didn't focus on the condo but rather our surroundings and overall stay. Answer below are very hard to answer and might be inaccurate.

Wonderful Princeville and Haene!! The you KVR for your easy and convenient management of our vacation rentals. You made it so easy!! Beyond all expectations!! One recommendation- put better window shades / darker curtains in Condo 226. It’s extremely bright very early in the morning.

We love the location of this rental with panoramic ocean views! We have rented this unit multiple times because it has views from 2 different sides of the condo. We have noticed some furniture and fixtures should be repaired/updated, but the positives definitely outway these minor issues.

This was our second 2-week stay in this rental unit and it was perfect for us. The views can't be beat and the location and orientation made it very private. We loved watching the Nene outside our unit and we could even see whales out to sea. The bed was super comfy. We usually ate "at home" and the unit has everything you could possibly need in terms of cooking utensils. When we did feel like eating out it was great to have a good pizza place right on the property. There were 4 beach chairs and, a 4 beach towels. Unfortunately the beach umbrella was broken. It was probably still usable but we didn't need it since we always went to a beach with lots of shade. There was plenty of toilet paper and kleenex as well as extra sets of sheets and towels. Since there were only two of us we didn't use the upstairs loft but it was nice to have a second bathroom upstairs so we could both shower at the same time. The one issue we had was with geckos. We didn't see any inside but they were definitely there as we found lots of their droppings. But this is Hawaii and geckos are better than bugs. Check-in and check-out were simple. Would definitely stay here again.

We "Look" forward to returning

Pali Ke Kua 226 has some of the most awesome views but the condo is in need of maintenance. The window screens had large gaps and blew out occasionally. This resulted in lots insects getting in and biting us all night. We slept with fans on and sheets over us but we still woke up with nasty bites each morning with lots of dead bugs all over.
The sectional is old with lots of sags and odors. The carpet at one time was white but is dirty and stained. The area rug on top is a remnant that is also white and stained . We stayed here several years in a row but the condition of the condo was intolerable to the point it’s not worth having the great view.

There is SO Much to love about Pali Ke Kua 226 !! Views here are Spectacular ! It’s like staring at a postcard out of every window!
We had a couple of small disappointments that I will mention & then back to the good stuff... Seems the shower head is likely the original. Hopeful they would replace with a removable one since this is such a very low budget item — would be most helpful & appreciated. The “bathtub” is simply the large shower floor with tile built up around it.
The other thing is the television is pretty dated and so we were unable to connect to any of our devices for program streaming. Would like to request that the owner consider a “budget friendly” Smart TV. We Did appreciate having cable available for us though.
The kitchen was well stocked with newer dishes including pots & skillets. This was great as we’ve stayed at other very nice locations that had really old pots & pans (everything sticks to them!)
There is a nice large dresser with lots of drawers for clothes as well as large bathrooms and a closet with shelves for other items.
The king size bed was nice & comfortable.
And it was a nice surprise to find the very large sofa with new upholstery! We both were able to stretch out & lay back on this very comfortable sofa with lots of pillows! Loved that !
Also want to say that Kauai Vacation Rentals is a very professional, friendly & accommodating company to work with and we were pleased & impressed.
Again, Pali Ke Kua 226 has stunningly beautiful views & it makes it hard to leave. Day & evening on that lanai staring at Bali Hai was truly Paradise and we cannot wait to return ! Thank you for such an amazing vacation!

The views from the condo cannot be beaten. Gorgeous views from every room. Our favorite part was waking up early to enjoy the deck with our coffee in the morning and watching the sunset in the evening. The condo itself is extremely dated and needs attention as things are starting to fall apart. Be aware that there is no A/C, and you cannot open most of the windows. It baffles me, as the cross breeze would cool the place down. The beds are comfortable. The condo pool is great.

In summary, once-in-a-lifetime views in a condo that needs a good amount of work.

We arrived on Monday, January 24 and on Tuesday called for a repair of a cabinet door under the kitchen sink which would not stay closed and would frequently hit you in the knee when working in the sink. The repairman showed up but did not have the parts to fix it and said he would be back on Saturday. Two weeks passed and he did not show up to finish the repair. We worked around it with a couple of bumps to the knee. Although the view is outstanding, the biggest disappointment was the fact that the windows and vents in the master bedroom were all permanently sealed shut. We were really looking forward to listening to the ocean at night and sleeping with the trade winds when they blew. There were no windows or vents that opened in the main bedroom. Interestingly enough, we were in the upper unit of the building but the same windows in the first floor unit were openable so obviously, this was an independent decision from the owner. In my opinion, a regrettable one. Certainly they could have chosen to only allow them to open just so far but they opted for something completely sealed. Although they had fans to move the air around in the bedroom, it's not the same as being able to bring in fresh air and to hear the ocean. The furniture was OK - the main bed was firm - the upstairs bed was hard. Kauai Vacation Rentals had a welcoming packet and treats and the unit was clean. The sealed windows was a big deal to us and would probably make us look for other accommodations next time. But the view was great. Whales breaching every day.

This condo was all we expected and more. Clean and comfortable with great views. For convenience it would be nice if the owners provided a key lockbox at the property for entry so the key does not have to be picked up and returned in Lihue. Pots and pans were not non-stick but that is ok for a rental.

The View - If pleasure is your value metric, this view is for you. I could easily sit and stare at this view for hours on end and never stop enjoying it. Whether it's the view from the Lanai, dining room or master bedroom it's a vista that can't grow old. The photographic opportunities continually present themselves. The rainbows, singles, doubles and possibly more were this condo's gift to my family.

The Condo - Sufficient for basic needs but steals a star or two from that fabulous view.

The Good: the couch and the master bed, comfy. The water, hot.

The Average: appliances, carpet, curtains, other amenities, functional but very dated, very worn. Late 70's or early 80's builder grade everything and it's time has come. Tile, not carpet may be the better choice.

The Not So Hot: the loft bed, like that Bob Seger song, Like a Rock. The showers barely provided enough pressure to rinse yourself. Hot, but not invigorating.

The Holy ****, Please address this: Bugs! I cleaned dead bugs every morning when I got up. Often before I even made coffee. Since we shared the condo with lizards, I assume it was their droppings with the dead bugs and not mice but... Why bother with window screens? There are more places for small creatures to get in, and you could not stop them. Please caulk this condo. If interested, I have pictures.

The Heat: Master bedroom, since the windows are sealed, no air could get to it. We bought a box fan for the MB, to add to the other fans, we left it, enjoy. Please, at least get a portable AC unit you can roll around or leave in the MB for sleeping. The living room, the trade winds are nice when they blow. When they don't, stuffy and sticky.

The Property Management company: Very much a pleasure to deal with. Four thumbs up! My wife liked them too.

Overall: This condo has such potential, it's a shame to not give it 5 stars with that view.

Recommen

Location was as advertised and check-in was very easy (picking up our welcoming package at the car rental location). The views from the unit was delightful and quite impressive. Unit was large and very welcoming.

We enjoyed that the condo has nice views and is quiet. We wanted a vacation rental so we could have the ability to cook if we desired, the privacy, laundry facilities and it's more relaxed then a hotel. We have been on Kauai before and love the beauty of the island.

Great memories made again!!

Lovely location, beautifully situated and decorated condo. What a view!

We like to have the opportunity to cook in and enjoy the day without rushing. We enjoy the privacy and comfort of a vacation rental.

Kauai Vacation Rentals has friendly agents that handled things extremely well and it was an altogether lovely experience.

We came to Kauai because of the beauty and good memories from our previous trips! Never the same and never disappointing.

Love the Dolphin restaurant. Love the hidden beach. Just soaking in the stunning views!

All I can say is WOW! We came to Kauai to get married (second for both of us). Married at Shipwrecks Beach (in the south at Hyatt... Beautiful). Then came north for our honeymoon. could not have picked a better location. Pali Ke Kua is an outstanding condo complex and more specifically unit 226.... I have never stayed in a place where I could have a glass of wine and watch the sunset directly in front of me on my sofa... Wow! The accommodations, kitchen items, bedroom, etc were all great. The only thing I wished they had short beach chairs instead of the "soccer mom" chairs. Eating at Hideaway Pizza (Italian Restaurant) walking distance was excellent. Would definitely stay again. Maybe on our wedding anniversary.

We chose to stay at Pali Ke Kua #226 for our first trip to Hawaii! The North shore of Kauai was absolutely spectacular! And the views from our condo .... Wow! A different rainbow every day! Wonderful views of the ocean, a cove below the lanai with sea turtles, the sunsets and sunrises! The condo was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The ceiling fans and trade winds kept it cool, though it was a bit warm in the afternoon due to the western exposure. But, we were usually out and about exploring the island! Kauai Vacation Rentals called to check on us on our arrival and had a gift waiting for us at the condo. There is a paved pathway leading to Hideaways Beach too! *** And just one more thing .... Make sure your husband doesn't jump in the ocean with the condo key in his pocket!
