Description

Comfortably furnished with great attention to detail, this first-floor condo with stairs to entry, is truly fabulous. Near the edge of a bluff overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean, this condo also commands spectacular views Bali Hai, the north shore landmark made famous in "South Pacific."

The spacious lanai is very inviting. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful panorama while tropical breezes gently caress you. Here is an ideal place to have a morning cup of coffee or cool beverage any time in total comfort and, of course, enjoy the sky's varied hues at sunset. Many windows also bring this sensational scenery indoors.

A telescope has been thoughtfully provided to enhance distant views and offer the opportunity to see, up close, an occasional boat sailing by as well as Kauai's marine life. Frequently, playful dolphins offshore can be seen "showing off." During winter, giant humpback whales visit the Hawaiian Islands from Alaska to the delight of visitors and kama'aina alike.

In Princeville, there is a wonderful variety of restaurants with delicious cuisine and tempting menus. A short drive down the hill takes you to Hanalei, a charming town with many small shops and galleries as well as additional delectable eateries. No doubt, you will want to spend time at the crescent-shaped beach at Hanalei Bay, one of the nation's most highly rated beaches.

Golf enthusiasts will appreciate having two world-class courses right in Princeville -- Prince Golf Course and Makai Golf Course, both designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. If tennis is more to your liking, feel free to play on the courts right at Pu'u Poa.

Activities nearby include seasonal swimming, snorkeling, fishing, surfing, windsurfing, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, flightseeing, shopping, tennis and golf.

Owners have thought of everything in furnishing a great vacation rental. Even though there were only three of us, there was plenty of room to totally be alone and relax. The view is terrific and the resident NeNe Geese Family were a delight to watch every day. Any issues that did come up were handled immediately and Kauai Vacation Rentals were super to work with. The only negative would be the amount of stairs leading to and from the unit, so if there are mobility issues, this is not for you as there are no elevators.

The location of this unit was perfect, the views were spectacular. However the condo is in desperate need of some updating. Some of the windows don't open, shutters are falling off. The complex has alot of construction going on, which unfortunately you could hear throughout the day, instead of peaceful, serene ocean sound, we heard pounding, sawing, nailing, loud construction equipment. We were not given any notification this would be going on.

A good choice for Kauai trip. Pu’u Po’a is a solidly built group of condos with beautiful ocean views. Rooms are well sized and complex is well run with a Swiming Pool and Tennis Court. The complex is walking distance to the Princeville Hotel (when it reopens as One Hanalei Bay). The Condo 112 is quite spacious due to being on the bottom floor and having the lanai enclosed. There are 2 Bedrooms with second one having a double and single shoe horned in. Master bedroom and living room have medium sized tv’s with cable. The Wifi signal was good and managed to work with zoom calls, video streaming and Volte phone calls. Because Pu’u Po’a is solidly built not just wood framed Cellphone signal can be dubious in most units so good wifi is important. Condo is in good state of repair but has not been modernized. There is a covered lanai open to the elements where you can eat or chat round a table outdoors. I found this very useful with Covid pandemic and a desire to stay outdoors yet avoid any rain showers. The views of the ocean and Makana Mountain across Hanalei Bay are the best at Pu’u Po’a. In my views Pu’u Po’a is the best condo on The North shore. Whilst Princeville is very much a group of mainlanders it is safe and secure and I have not heard of any byrglaries are vars being broken into. I visit Kaua’i 2-3 times a year since 94 and stay at Pu’u Po’a. This unit is one of the best and remains reasonably priced. One note of caution. This unit is a challenge for those with mobility issues. It is not suitable for those who find multiple stairs difficult. Indeed Pu’u Po’a was built before people thought about disabled access so no ramps or wheelchair access.

First let me say that the views are insane from this unit and the walk to it from the car! From almost every window, there are gorgeous views - I knew they would be good, but WOW!! We heard that unit was larger than it looked in the photos - bingo! I think they need better photos - the whole place looked much better that the photos and SO much bigger! There were only 2 of us and wow did we have tons of room - it was great!

We heard that the decor was a little dated, but we found it fun and a bit kitchy. We especially loved the oversized sofa - it was like a large square with tons of pillows - I fell asleep there many times! Some other reviews said that the living room furniture was not super comfortable - we found it fine. Not amazing, but it was comfy enough to sleep on, lounge on, and have a great time on. We loved the cool chair with the overhang - super interesting!

A few things did need updating like the windows/screens - some were broken, or wouldn't open, or had ripped screens - not a huge deal to us - just could use updating.

The one negative for us was - we had booked this unit because it said it was on the first floor - I assumed that meant ground level... but we had to go down a couple short flights of stairs to get to the unit...plus from the parking, the sidewalk had a few steps... made it difficult with luggage (we had a lot) and we had planned on using a wagon to schlep things from the unit, but couldn't because of this. My sister has athsma, so this was tough for her... I wish that would have been made more clear, but again, we dealt with it and we could have asked more questions about this ahead of time, but we didn't.

No air conditioning - it was a tad warm when we'd get back late afternoon, but with so many overhead and standing fans - we were absolutely fine. We made sure to close the drapes during the day when the sun came in which helped a lot.

Overall - we loved the unit and would definit

We have stayed many times at Pu'u Poa and each has been memorable hence our return visits. However, 112 was particularly enjoyable as it has one of the best views of Bali Hai and 180 degrees of ocean. We also enjoyed being on the lower level where we spent many evenings sitting (chairs provided) on the lawn watching the sunsets. If you are looking to relax and breathe this is the place.

We recently stayed 2 1/2 weeks in paradise at Pu'u Poa 112! The unit is very spacious (we were a family of 5, and everyone had their own space when wanted) and well appointed. The owner was super responsive to our only issue (wi-fi was not working) and personally came to fix it the same day! The views....absolutely breathtaking! Pictures simply cannot do it justice...I found myself just staring for hours, trying to burn it into my memory! This was our 1st time staying on the North shore, and I will never go back east or south after this stay. No A/C, but there are 5 ceiling fans in living spaces plus 3 portable fans...these plus the trade winds make the unit comfortable. It's warm but that's why we came here!! Some windows are a bit stiff, and all windows are equipped with wooden shutters which are great to have, but some are a bit sticky to operate. These are very nit-picky things, and do not change the fact that I desperately wish to return to this very unit as soon as I can. My senior parents came along, and managed the stairs (something like 24 stairs total from parking lot down to unit, with good railings), and absolutely loved this condo as well. We've been coming to the islands since the mid 70's, and this was our favorite trip of all!! Thanks for sharing your beautiful unit!!

Five of us recently stayed in Pu'u Poa 112 for 3 weeks. The location is truly Paradise. It is a ground floor corner unit with stunning views out the front and along the side very close to the ocean bluff. We loved being able to walk right out onto the grass from our unit and sit at the edge of the bluff in our Adirondack chairs. Unit 112 is quite private as it's at the opposite end from the pool. We made great use of the pool, swimming every morning and some evenings as well. 112 is a large condo with loads of room. The beds were very comfortable, kitchen well stocked and we were happy to find brand new beach chairs and a beach umbrella. This is our second time booking through KVR and they have been great to work with, ensuring everything went smoothly from initial booking to departure. We can't wait to return to Kauai and to Pu'u Poa 112!

The birds were a delight and the view was amazing. I had never been to Kauai and thought it would be the perfect place to celebrate my 50th Birthday. It was!

My wife and I stayed for 4 days celebrating our 37th anniversary. We had a wonderful time and will try to return sometime. Unbelievable views from a truly magical location. I would highly recommend this property for anyone planning a getaway looking for an unforgettable perfect setting that is truly dazzling!
